People First Credit Union is inviting local community and voluntary groups to apply for its Community Champions Award, a significant €10,000 prize dedicated to supporting one outstanding local project that will make a lasting difference in the community.
The award recognises the incredible work carried out by community groups and volunteers who dedicate their time, energy and resources to improving the lives of others.
Through this initiative, People First Credit Union aims to give one deserving group a meaningful opportunity to bring an ambitious project to life and create a lasting positive impact.
With €10,000 available to one successful applicant, the award offers a substantial funding opportunity for a local group to turn its vision into reality.
People First Credit Union is particularly interested in capital projects that demonstrate creativity, long-term value and a commitment to environmental sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles.
The value of the award was brought to life by VIP Hub, the 2025 Community Champions Award recipient.
The group used its €10,000 prize to organise the Laois Inclusion Games, helping create an opportunity for inclusion and community participation through sport.
Their project highlights how this funding can help local groups transform an idea into a meaningful initiative that benefits people across the community.
The Community Champions Award reflects People First Credit Union’s commitment to building stronger, more inclusive and sustainable communities.
By supporting projects with the potential to make a lasting difference, the award recognises the value of local groups and the important role they play in improving the lives of others.
Applications are now open to eligible not-for-profit community and voluntary groups. Commercial organisations and individuals are not eligible for funding.
Groups interested in applying are encouraged to review the application form and full terms and conditions, available on the People First Credit Union website, before submitting their application.
The closing date for applications is 2pm on Monday, 30 November 2026.
